For me, the journey through pregnancy was just as important as the labor and delivery. I knew that this would likely be my only baby and I wanted pregnancy to be a time of reflection, gratitude and self-love. I met Megan several years prior when she taught at my neighborhood yoga studio, and was instantly drawn to her sincerity, humility and playful spirit.
Throughout my second and third trimester, Megan and I had weekly prenatal yoga sessions. I listened to my body and Megan listened to me, and together we crafted sessions that left me feeling centered and confident. During the months leading up to my due date, she became a confidant whose thoughtfulness and wisdom helped me to fully realize my birth plan.
During the labor, Megan was a rock. She followed my lead and her presence allowed me to surrender to the experience. With her assistance, I was able to deliver my healthy baby girl with no medical interventions. At my request during our initial meetings, Megan also took pictures of my baby girl moments after she was born—pictures that I will forever cherish!
I am so thankful that Megan was with me during the most exhilarating moment in my life and in the months leading up to it. I would recommend her to any mama who wants to incorporate yoga into their pregnancy or simply wants a strong woman by their side as they welcome their new baby into the world.

Megan is fantastic! We were very happy that she helped us welcome our baby daughter into the world. During pregnancy, my wife and I had many questions and Megan really listened. If she knew about the subject, she would talk to us about it and, if she didn’t, she would seek it out and get back to us. If we just wanted more information, she would loan us books from her library. If my wife’s body was hurting, Megan used her prenatal yoga knowledge to give us safe exercises to try. Throughout the process she was very thoughtful, patient, and calming.
Megan is well connected to the birthing support community. She invited us to a pregnancy support group which helped us because it introduced us to other pregnant couples. Also, because of our age, the doctors wanted to induce on or just before her due date. Not wanting to get a chemical induction, we talked to Megan, who connected us to an acupuncturist. We made an appointment for a few days before my wife’s due date and 8 hours after the appointment my wife was in labor!
During labor, Megan’s help made everything easier. Megan could sense when my wife needed support and would jump into action. She brought electric candles, music, and supportive words and actions that lightened the mood and made labor easier. I was able to take a break to walk and get food nearby while she stayed with my wife. There was even a mini-dance party after my wife was given an epidural that made everyone smile.
Post labor, Megan checked in on us, made sure we were on the right track, and shared some thoughts on lactation.
I can’t say enough good things about Megan. She was thoughtful and supportive throughout the process and gave us access to resources we wouldn’t have had without her. Yay for Megan!

Megan was amazing at helping everyone be informed every step of the way. She helped us keep open lines of communcations when things progressed and have a calm presence to help everyone regulate. Megan was tremendous at helping my wife with informed advice on next steps of treatment and techniques to help during contractions. As a first time father she helped take the pressure off me understanding next steps and things to look out for. I would highly recommend Megan to anyone!!!

I can’t imagine going through pregnancy, labor and birth without having Megan as my doula. She was absolutely INCREDIBLE. From our very first meeting, through my entire pregnancy I felt so comfortable coming to her for information, advice and support. She was amazing at talking to my husband and me about birth and prepared us so much for something we had no idea about. Her presence as SOON as I went into labor was so amazing, and without her support the day of I would have never made it through childbirth drug free! She communicates so eloquently, clearly and kindly and helped my whole support team do their best to support me. I’m forever grateful that we had megan on this amazing journey with us, and can’t wait (but I can a little bit ) until we get to go through this wonderful process again with her support!

I wasn’t sure about hiring a Doula and what exactly the reason was or what Doula’s even do; until I attended a great Mindfulnest Class with Megan Peterson; learning more about all of the stages of labor made me want, as a new mother, that extra level of support for my partner and I. From every meeting, discussion, and even talking through fears to creating our own personalized birth plan, I was so much more at ease and less anxious having Megan as our Doula by our side, with her wealth of experiences and also her Yoga therapy background, we felt so supported and calmed by her professionalism and true nurturing energy. Fast forward to the birth of our son, and after a long challenging process, we were also so relieved to have her by our side every step of the way, she went above and beyond to keep myself and my partner connected and calm for the entire process. I couldn’t imagine not having a Doula and not having someone exactly like Megan to support us in this special moment. You are very lucky if you can have her support your birth.

WHAT A POWERFUL WOMAN! Megan was my doula during my pregnancy and she exceeded my expectations. I have always been very in tune with my body and self, and I didn’t know if I needed a doula. I always heard great things about Megan so I thought why not, more help wouldn’t be a bad thing?!

My labor was a 60 hour process with a ton of interventions. Megan was there for me for the entire process if not in person, but also available via phone for when she needed to sleep. I never felt so held. So supported. So loved.

Megan is very unique in the sense that she knows all the right questions to ask, her knowledge is astounding as well as continuing, and her passion is felt with every interaction! My journey through giving birth to my son was not what I expected and Megan allowed me to have space to explore the journey.

When I was pregnant, my husband and I weren’t even sure we wanted a doula, but we decided to meet with a few just to see how we felt. After less than an hour of chatting with Megan, we were sold. We walked away from the meeting feeling more confident and comfortable about the pregnancy and birth than we had at any point until then.

Megan has an abundance of knowledge and positive energy. She’s a great listener who makes you feel truly heard and understood — a major benefit during labor. After our prenatal meetings with Megan, my husband and I both felt more prepared and empowered. During labor, Megan exceeded my expectations. Just when I thought there was nothing to be done to ease my pain or anxiety, Megan had another idea for a new position or technique. My husband also felt supported by her and therefore more confident in his role as my birth partner. We believe that the time she took to get to know us as people in the months leading up to the birth really helped her support us in ways that were meaningful to us. She’ll always be part of this very special day in our lives and we will always highly recommend her to anyone looking for a doula.

My husband and I met Megan through her vibrant yoga classes and were so impressed by her positivity, sense of humor, and incredible depth of wisdom about the body, mind, and spirit. As I prepared for the birth of our first child, I asked several mothers what was most essential in creating a positive experience. Their recurrent advice was, “Hire a doula!” I instantly knew that I wanted Megan by my side.
Megan served as an incredible support and knowledgeable resource throughout our pregnancy and birth. I felt more confident in facing such an enormous task as I was encouraged by Megan’s strength and experience. She was a grounding force even as our birth unfolded through a variety of unexpected events. Megan was an excellent communicator, a strong advocate for our wishes, and was physically and emotionally present through many late night hours of labor. I am certain that she led to far better care by medical staff than we would have received on our own. I was relieved to see how she was equally able to support both my husband and me, so that I could focus all my energy on giving birth.
Furthermore, Megan went above and beyond what we had asked of her (running my placenta home after delivery, baking me delicious postpartum lactation cookies!) and helped to make the intensely vulnerable journey of welcoming our daughter into the world a beautiful one. I wholeheartedly recommend her skill and strength to anyone seeking an empowering start to parenthood.

We feel so absolutely lucky to have found Brave Birth to help guide us through this most wild ride (5 days and counting until our due date)! After first becoming pregnant, we were planning to have just the two of us navigate this pregnancy, birth, and beyond primarily solo with some “baby classes” here and there. 2.5 months out from our due date, though, those thoughts started to change and the reality and honestly, fear, of it all set in.
Luckily, for myself, I had met Megan about a month prior through a prenatal yoga class. I learned that she is also a Doula and it got my wheels turning. We had a wonderful free consultation, with my husband, and signed up immediately! The BEST decision we had made thus far!
Megan, the Brave Birth Community (with prenatal support groups), the MindfulNest class, and Megan’s prenatal yoga has been nothing short of amazing. Matt and I talk on a regular basis of how grateful we are to have all that Brave Birth and Megan includes - from the resources and evidence-based information, support groups, prenatal yoga, humor, and personal connections.
My two most grateful aspects of Brave Birth at this time has been attending the MindfulNest class through Brave Birth, with Megan and Nicolette, and Megan’s Prenatal Yoga! MindfulNest was the perfect balance of traditional child birth information, practical applications for all aspects of labor, and integrating Mindfulness throughout in a living room setting that made each 4 hour sessions fly by (always my gauge for a solid class)! I have found Megan’s yoga to be a stellar balance of strengthening, breath, and functional rest all while learning about the applications for my pregnancy and birth. At 39 weeks I looked forward to her 5:30 PM class! She is one VERY talented yoga therapist!
Although I believe, one can never be fully prepared for this life-changing experience, my prior fears have turned to a lot of excitement, curiosity, still a little angst, and a ton of confidence - Brave Birth is the perfect name for this awesome community!

I used Megan as my doula for the birth of my first child, October 2015. I couldn’t have asked for a better coach and way to prep. I didn’t know what to expect, but I was blown away by the knowledge she shared and the amount of resources she provided both before and after the birth. She met with me multiple times to get to know me, discuss the type of labor and delivery I’d like to have, and to do prenatal yoga and pelvic floor exercises. I felt that I learned more about how I best deal with challenge and pain with her than I did during my child birth classes. If I had it to do all over again I would have skipped the classes and spent more time with Megan. After delivery we focused on repairing the body and discussing resources for new moms. If you are considering using a doula for assistance with natural pain coping techniques (breathing, mantras, images) I’d highly recommend using Megan. If you’re like me, you’ll walk away with much more than your expected. :)

Like many first-time mothers, I had big expectations regarding my pregnancy and child birth. Some dreams were more realistic than others, but in the end, I credit my work with Megan for helping me to create my perfect birth story.
My journey with Megan helped to prepare me physically, mentally, and emotionally for labor. She was there through almost every stage, as my body grew and changed. During labor she was a rock for my husband, who was a little unsure of what to do at first. I can’t say enough good things about her beautiful spirit and I can’t wait to welcome our next baby, with Megan by our side.

yoga

When I was pregnant, I thought, “prenatal yoga is a thing. I should do it,” and started trying classes. I had done yoga for years in big classes where I felt like I was doing it wrong, then I did prenatal yoga in, well, the same. Megan’s class was—fresh air, healing, strengthening, joy. I practiced with her weekly through the rest of my pregnancy as she provided challenge and support that helped me feel strong and calm going into birth. After giving birth, in that hard, timeless early postpartum period, I felt unmoored in a new body and new life. Then I found a reason to see Megan again—her postpartum class! Postpartum! It was seriously critical in helping me reconnect with my body, my new experience, and with other new parents. Through vulnerability, celebration, and a deep understanding of anatomy, physiology, and movement, Megan helps you guide yourself to wherever you need to be, with genuine care and curiosity. And I still use practices from her prenatal class every. single. day.
I knew I wanted to continue my yoga practice during pregnancy, but I wanted specific instruction that would be safe and meaningful during this special time. Megan’s prenatal yoga instruction has been fantastic. She focuses on areas of the body that are important during labor, is responsive to individual needs/requests, and has a wonderful way of helping you connect with your growing baby through breath and movement. I always leave Megan’s classes refreshed and feeling whole!
Megan teaches a prenatal yoga class that gives you the perfect guidance and support from 1st trimester to due date, for both your body & soul. I fond other classes were prescriptive and just OK, whereas her classes were always creative and personalized for students and meeting them where they were at. I found such joy and comfort weekly attending her classes where we could stretch, strengthen, relax, and also learn about your growing body and how to best support the pregnancy journey. Its really helpful the way she leads and guides her class to truly check in with yourself, I can honestly say her Prenatal classes made my pregnancy so much more healthy and happy!
Prenatal Yoga has been especially helpful and eye opening at how unique this stage is and Megan’s classes really support every person, Yogi or not, throughout their pregnancy to feel their best and feel supported.

Plus, I can’t say enough good things about Megan’s prenatal yoga classes (this is now the third location in which I’ve taken them). Her classes are appropriately challenging, help me feel more calm and confident in my body, and the information she shares (and the way she shares it) has helped me keep my body safe & healthy in the other physical activities I do. It is clear she cares about what she’s doing, and she’s used that caring to educate herself deeply. She makes it especially (emotionally) safe to ask questions/not know everything. She’s paused during class to go get a pelvis to help illustrate the pelvic floor muscles (I have spent years not really understanding this!); she’s also the only prenatal instructor I’ve had (of ANY kind; not just yoga) who hasn’t unnecessarily gendered their language around pregnancy & pregnant bodies, which I appreciate (even as a cis woman).

I alllllmost wish I weren’t as far along in this pregnancy, so I could go to her classes at People’s for a few more months!
I started yoga in a studio with Megan as teacher and she quickly became my favorite yoga teacher. I soon after took private lessons with her and I really enjoyed them! Megan is a great teacher not only because she is good at yoga but because she is explaining why it’s important to have a good posture and what are the benefits for your body which is important for me. She is also very funny. I highly recommend classes with Megan and wish I would have more time for some.
Megan is a kind and caring person who is in touch with the needs of her students. She has a wealth of knowledge to share and really enjoys helping me grow in this practice. Thank you for everything you bring to class to share. Your quotes and words of wisdom always seem to be spot on for my needs.
I’ve been attending the Restorative Yoga class with Megan Peterson. Not knowing what to expect I listened to Megan, but more importantly she listened to me. We’re targeting specific areas and my body is responding with more flexibility and strength. I feel it’s not just restorative, as I also feel rested and rejuvenated after my class. I’m learning stretches and postures to take me through my day and keep my body healthy and aligned.
Megan is a wonderful instructor who has a gifted eye for alignment and explaining concepts in ways that are applicable and approachable to all. Her style is warm and inviting!
Megan is amazing- another level of knowledge-ability and individual attention. So glad to start my day with her intentional practice.
I have been lucky enough to experience much of Megan’s teaching evolution. She has developed a holistic understanding of Yoga’s principles that she passes along to her students. Megan creates a light, fun environment in her classes that is accepting of all skill levels and comfort zones, allowing students to tailor their practice. She offers a safe space to share any physical or emotional concerns you may have and provides compassionate advice on how to address them. Megan is one of my favorite teachers and I highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to explore Yoga in it’s many forms.
I have been taking yoga for 30 years, in the U.S. and Asia. Megan is the best teacher I have experienced. It’s obvious she has a solid base in yoga, anatomy and physiology, but she is also uniquely gifted in her presentation and skills. She is a gifted teacher, understanding the physical and emotional needs of her students. She is positive, happy, deliberate, calm and intuitive, a rare mix. Best yoga class I ever took. This workshop and preceding classes have advanced my practice immensely. I look forward to taking more classes with Megan.

Pelvic Floor Yoga™

I came to work with Megan because I was having urge incontinence issues. In my sessions with Megan I learned tow to relax my pelvic floor during certain poses and how to engage deep abdominal muscles to support my pelvic floor. She is very accepting and supportive. Even when I don’t /can’t do the pose she says “this is something to work into” not “no way, you really missed the mark!” Of course, no yogi would respond in the latter, but there was no vibe in her voice that was anything other than completely accepting and supportive. The sessions helped me to feel more confident in my body. I used to hold myself when I had to cough or sneeze so no leakage would occur or when I was running into the toilet after my commute home. Now I don’t. I can cough or sneeze without holding myself and have no leakage (only one leak in the past week). And after a long drive home after work, I walk sedately to the bathroom with no extreme urgency.

As new parents & young professionals we attended the Mindful Nest Classes, and Prenatal classes by Megan Peterson. As a couple with high expectations, we have been so happy with every experience we have had to be both well informed with facts & tools, while also cared for and given personal support, ideas to navigate this experience. The classes offered were a perfect blend of all entities & we were given tons of data, support, and also a very human & compassionate interaction. By taking this class, we feel a ton more connected and prepared! There are so many stages of pregnancy, and childbirth, and beyond, we are so glad we found Brave Birth & all of the practitioners there as new parents! *Prenatal Yoga has been especially helpful and eye opening at how unique this stage is and Megan’s classes really support every person, Yogi or not, throughout their pregnancy to feel their best and feel supported.
You two are fabulous and work so well together; complement each others’ experience/personality very, very well! It was a fabulous class and I am SO happy we switched from a traditional, hospital-based class to Mindful Nest!! We left understanding the stages of labor, practical strategies and applications during all the stages of birth. As well as understanding of all the options related to getting labor going, mindfulness strategies and implementation, and just being able to talk through all of our questions.
Mindful Nest game me a better understanding of the entire process at the detailed level and also from a 30,000 foot view. We were provided with both aspects and I appreciated it all. I also was grateful for the space to ask a question and not feel dumb about asking it. Great job responding to questions by both teachers; I felt like they really listened to my questions and made sure to answer them fully. The class provided space for the ability to express feelings about labor and not feel ashamed or embarrassed. I appreciated the openness of the teachers and ability to help calm nerves. The best part was the shared experience between myself and my wife. It was fun to work through the exercises together and learn together.
The most valuable info was about scenarios that may happen in labor, and the BRA decision-making process for dealing with the choices that might present themselves. I appreciated that the material was presented without judgement, and that the materials used normalized a lot of what was scary and unknown about labor.
It truly was a fantastic session. I learned so much about everything there is to know about the labor process. It helped me feel so much more comfortable about what to expect and being more informed. It definitely helped ease some nerves leading up to the birth (it has not yet happened as of writing this, but I feel much better). I appreciated the mix of exercises throughout the day. It wasn’t just talking at us and there was a great mix of dialogue between the learners and the teachers.
A solid introduction to establish shared awareness to empower the mother to be and her partner/support person for many topics: to be Mindful, Prepared for different stages of labor and birth, Options for birth and all of the layers & stages from Pregnancy through post-partum. Very impactful and great class for both of us.
