Now after having done prior preparations through life and other practices, the study and practice of yoga begins. -Patanjali, Yoga Sutra 1.1, Swami Rama Translation

I am a teacher.

I revel in the connection and the reciprocal learning between teacher and student!  After graduating with a degree in International Studies of Latin America, I stepped into the classroom at an alternative high school for immigrants and refugees in Portland, OR.  This prompted a journey for myself to find more resiliency and authenticity as a teacher.  I moved on to spend time teaching at Amani Primary school in Kenya and at the Si, Se Puede Learning Center in California, and while there, realized that I wanted to share yoga.

I am a student.

I have practiced yoga since 2008. Maintaining a student's perspective is what cracks me open to possibility rather than stagnant understanding. I completed my first 200 Hour Yoga Certification in 2011. My personal yoga journey, and the motivation to share yoga with a more diverse population, led me to study Yoga Therapy with Sarahjoy Marsh at the DAYA Foundation. I completed 500 hours of study and I am mentoring under Sarahjoy while working towards the International Association of Yoga Therapists certification of Yoga Therapist.  I also completed Prenatal Yoga training with Shana Celnicker-Chong at The Bhaktishop Yoga Center.

Sharing Yoga

Yoga meets us where we are.  Inspired by hours spent choreographing dance routines in my bedroom as a child, my vinyasa classes are dynamic, creative and intentional. Equally, I value the importance of providing space for deeper relaxation and awareness through restorative practices.  Through teaching I wish to inspire my students to be curious, playful and open to what they discover in their mat practice and life.  Whether it's looking for relief from a running injury, dealing with depression and anxiety, or seeking more connection with oneself, yoga provides a unique path for each of us to come to know ourselves truly.
